McElhanney Associates Land Surveying Ltd. is looking for a part-time Survey Assistant to join our branch in Duncan, BC. This is a fantastic opportunity to accelerate your surveying career with exceptional mentorship from the best in the industry.
The incumbent will, under the direction of a Surveyor or Party Chief:
Clear line utilizing different hand and power tools
Set up and take down survey equipment
Maintain, clean, organize, and monitor/report condition of equipment and vehicles, maintain field supplies, and ensure necessary resources are available in the field
Under direction, assist surveyor and other staff with taking survey measurements
1-2 years' experience as a field survey assistant/chainman
Formal training/post-secondary education in survey technology; a combination of education and experience is an asset
Ability to work in a variety of outdoor settings including wilderness/backcountry environment for extended periods and varied hours
Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment
Willing and able to work out of town on an as needed basis (up to two weeks away at a time)
Excellent attention to detail, attendance, judgment and communication skills
